Who We Are
BirchBioMed is an advanced clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We are dedicated to the development of innovative and groundbreaking treatments for mild-to-severe medical disorders and devastating diseases with high unmet medical need that affect the quality of life and life expectancy of millions of patients globally.
We hold exclusive, worldwide pharmaceutical licenses from the prestigious University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada for two groundbreaking technologies: FS2 (kynurenic acid or KynA) and AI-001, a novel, proprietary combination
Our preliminary research and early-to-mid-stage clinical trials show that FS2 and AI-001 have the potential to be revolutionary treatments for multiple life-threatening diseases and severe debilitating conditions.
Our Vision and Mission
Our mission is to develop FS2 as the first-line systemic treatment for millions suffering from organ fibrosis, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — a condition currently fatal in untreated cases within 2 to 3 years after being diagnosed. Additionally, we are developing AI-001 to radically improve the lives of patients with specific autoimmune disorders, initially focusing on type 1 diabetes and alopecia areata.
Beyond its potential to significantly improve quality of life and to possibly reverse the progression of life-threatening diseases, FS2 has also demonstrated exceptional results as a topical cream for treating burn scars, including on skin grafts and in patients with mature keloids or hypertrophic scars. In a Phase 2 randomized clinical trial, our FS2 topical cream demonstrated significant superiority over the market leader in treating keloid scars, the most difficult type of scars to treat. We plan to partner with a leading dermatology company to expand global access to FS2 topical cream for millions of people with mild to severe skin disorders.
